Munich’s grand hotel since 1841, run by the same family for generations, on Promenadeplatz in the Old Town, with the Blue Spa and its rooftop pool.
The Bayerischer Hof has been Munich’s grand hotel since 1841. It stands on Promenadeplatz in the Old Town, and the Volkhardt family has run it since 1897 – rebuilding it after it was destroyed in the Second World War.
The highlight is the Blue Spa, spread over the top floor, with a rooftop pool under a glass roof that opens in good weather and views over the city’s towers. Below, restaurants, bars and a cinema make the hotel a small world of its own.
The Frauenkirche and Marienplatz are a few minutes’ walk away, and the shops of the Old Town start at the door.
