Nerja is one of the prettiest towns on the Costa del Sol. Home to about 22,000 people, it sits on low cliffs about 50 km east of Málaga, where the mountains of the Sierra de Almijara meet the sea. Unlike the big resorts further west, Nerja keeps a village feel, with white lanes, flower-filled balconies and small beaches tucked between rocks.
Why visit Nerja
For its coastline – coves, cliffs and clear water – and for the Nerja Caves, one of Spain’s most impressive cave systems. It is also a good base for hiking in the mountains and visiting the white village of Frigiliana.
