Three days are perfect for Seville. The old town is compact and flat, so this itinerary is easy on foot – with long lunches and a siesta in the hottest hours, the Sevillian way.

Before you go

Book the Real Alcázar and the Cathedral online: both use timed tickets. In summer, plan visits for the morning and enjoy the city again after sunset.

Day 1: the Cathedral, the Alcázar and Santa Cruz

  • Morning: the Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world, and a climb up the Giralda by its ramps.
  • Midday: the Real Alcázar – the Mudéjar palace, the Patio de las Doncellas and the gardens.
  • Afternoon: get lost in the lanes of Santa Cruz and the Murillo gardens.
  • Evening: tapas in Santa Cruz, then a flamenco show.

Day 2: the Plaza de España and the river

  • Morning: the Plaza de España and María Luisa Park; hire a rowing boat on the canal.
  • Midday: lunch in El Arenal, near the Maestranza bullring.
  • Afternoon: the Torre del Oro and a walk – or a cruise – along the Guadalquivir.
  • Evening: cross the Triana bridge for dinner by the river.

Day 3: Triana, Las Setas and the Alameda

  • Morning: the Triana market, next to the old Castle of San Jorge, and the ceramic shops of the quarter.
  • Midday: back across the river for lunch around Alfalfa.
  • Afternoon: the Casa de Pilatos, a 16th-century palace full of tiles and patios.
  • Evening: sunset from the walkway of Las Setas, then drinks on the Alameda de Hércules.

Tips

  • Avoid the midday heat in summer: Sevillians eat late and rest in the afternoon.
  • Wear comfortable shoes: cobbles are everywhere.
  • Dress respectfully in the Cathedral: shoulders and knees covered.
