A cruise on the Seine is the easiest way to see Paris in an hour – and one of the most beautiful. The river runs through the heart of the city, and most of its great monuments line the banks.
The route
Boats leave from the foot of the Eiffel Tower and glide past the Musée d’Orsay, the Louvre, the Île de la Cité with Notre-Dame, and the Île Saint-Louis, before turning back under the city’s famous bridges, from the Pont Neuf to the gilded Pont Alexandre III.
Day or evening?
- By day, you see the architecture clearly and it is perfect with children.
- In the evening, the monuments are lit up and the Eiffel Tower sparkles at the start of every hour – the most romantic option.
Tips
- Sit on the open upper deck for photos, but bring a layer: it can be windy on the water.
- Go early in your trip: the cruise helps you get your bearings.
- Combine with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, right next to the pier.
